Little War

A friend showed me her photo of a dead hummingbird, the only apparent wound being a small needle point to the head. Small wars happen everyday, seen and unseen. oil on canvas 24"x 36"

Passing Storm

This picture was a long time coming. First It was just a field. Then it was a field with a flag and finally it became "Passing Storm". It reminds me of many summer vacations spent on the Maine coast yet it bears harbingers of both danger and hope for America's future. Oil on canvas 24"x 66"

Lift

Lift

Dogs in my work often elicit feelings of innocence, loyalty ... trust. In this painting I was thinking of a dog outside of himself, so excited that he cannot contain himself. His leap is one of joy yet seems almost painful. I recently heard a priest's sermon where he described the inherently unnatural trauma of physical death, a tearing apart, the spirit from the flesh. oil on canvas 30"x 40"
